Venere.com Announces Top 10 Oscar Movie Locations, Fun Facts and Trivia (1980-2011)
ROME, April 6, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Here at Venere.com (http://www.venere.com/ ) we love Oscars and came up with a top 10 list of the movies that won "Best Picture" award between 1980 and 2011. To add a little bit more "fun" we thought it would be useful to picture where the filming locations were throughout the world, as well as give an idea of budget and box office revenues. The King's Speech (2011)

Trivia: The author, David Seidler suffered from a stammer as a child. Having heard George VI's wartime speech as a child, he had written to the Queen Mother asking for permission to use the King's story to create a film. The Queen Mother asked him not to during her lifetime, citing that the memories were too painful.
Slumdog Millionaire (2009)

Trivia: Azharuddin Mohammed Ismail (who played Salim as a child) was reportedly paid GBP700 and Rubina Ali (who played Latika as a child) reportedly received GBP500 for a month's work on the film. At the end of the movie, both of the child actors continued to live in makeshift shacks in the illegal slums of Bandra, a suburb of Mumbai. The studio declined to comment on the actual wages paid, but has since provided thousands of dollars in education and college funds for the children.
The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King (2003)

Trivia: Peter Jackson cut his own hair throughout the project because he didn't have time to schedule a haircut appointment. 48,000 props were used in the films.

Trivia: Russell Crowe was continually unhappy with the screenplay, rewriting much of it himself. The famous line "In this life or the next, I will have my vengeance" he initially refused to say, telling writer "Your lines are garbage but I'm the greatest actor in the world and I can make even garbage sound good."
Titanic (1997) - 11 Oscars

Trivia: The 17 million gallon seawater tank, built for the sinking scenes in Titanic, is the largest shooting tank in the world and the largest ever constructed for a movie.
