CHANTILLY, Va., June 7, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Vencore, Inc. announced today that Patrick T. Biltgen, Ph.D., technical director of analytics, has been named the inaugural winner of the Neil Armstrong Award of Excellence. Biltgen will receive the award at the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation's (ASF) Innovators Gala on Sept. 16, 2017 in Washington, D.C.
The award is presented to a former ASF scholar whose research and work has made a positive impact on industry and who exemplifies a passion to expand the boundaries of exploration through science and technology. Biltgen is a two-time ASF scholar having received the award in both 2001 and 2002.

Additionally, Biltgen is the co-author of the textbook "Activity-Based Intelligence: Principles and Applications." Advancements in ABI have benefitted the United States military and Intelligence Community by locating and identifying explosive caches used to manufacture improvised explosive devices, saving dozens of soldiers' lives.
In addition to his contributions to the U.S. military and Intelligence Community, Biltgen's work has also had a positive impact on humanitarian efforts through the documentation of treaty violations and monitoring relief efforts in the Middle East.
