CHANTILLY, Va., Jan. 9, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- Vencore, Inc. announced today that its innovative research arm, Vencore Labs, has had its SecureIO application approved for inclusion on the National Security Agency Central Security Service (NSA/CSS) components list for the Commercial Solutions for Classified (CSfC) program. The SecureIO application enables agencies to use existing Android apps securely in a CSfC mobile access solution, improving the utility and flexibility of mobile CSfC solutions.
The CSfC program enables agencies to employ commercial products in specific configurations to protect classified data. Commercial products must undergo evaluation and be selected for inclusion on the NSA's approved components List.
"This approval by NSA/CSS serves as the most recent example of the landmark technology and innovation that is fueled by our extraordinary team at Vencore Labs," said Mac Curtis, president and chief executive officer, Vencore. "Their keen ability to develop and apply technology that enables more accessible and secure communications is leveraged across government in support of critical missions."
SecureIO simplifies the secure deployment of pre-existing and new applications on Android devices that are configured for use in CSfC solutions. Android devices used in CSfC solutions are typically limited to the use of only those applications that have been approved by the National Information Assurance Partnership (NIAP) for providing TLS encryption of all communication. SecureIO's addition to the CSfC list allows agencies to use virtually any existing Android application on their end-user device, without the time, money, and logistical challenge of obtaining NIAP approval of that application.
The NSA recommends use of Trusted Integrators to navigate the process of designing, integrating, and registering a CSfC-compliant solution. Vencore Labs was named an NSA-designated CSfC Trusted Integrator in 2015 and has successfully registered multiple CSfC solutions for customers. The SecureIO application is the first CSfC approved product from Vencore Labs.
