CHANTILLY, Va., May 24, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Vencore announced today that it is now a V3-certified company through the Virginia Values Veterans (V3) Program. The award, presented by John Newby, Commissioner of the Department of Veterans Services for the Commonwealth of Virginia, was delivered to Mac Curtis, president and chief executive officer of Vencore, in a ceremony at the company's headquarters yesterday afternoon.
The V3 Program is a training and certification program, sanctioned by the Commonwealth of Virginia's Department of Veterans Affairs, to help companies implement nationally recognized best practices in recruiting, hiring and retaining highly-skilled and dependable veterans.
"Receiving this award is an immense honor," said Curtis. "Veterans make up a large portion of our workforce, providing Vencore with a unique advantage as they bring not only the military experience and expertise we need to support our customers, but also embody the dedication and integrity that we look for in all our employees. We are proud of all we've accomplished in an effort to receive this accreditation, and look forward to growing our veteran recruiting program in the future."
In order to be considered for this level of accreditation, a company must make a public commitment to the Commonwealth to recruit, hire and retain qualified veterans, complete an intensive year-long training program, and submit a formal Organizational Veteran Hiring Plan outlining the company's strategy and goals for hiring and investing in the many qualified veterans in Virginia.
Currently, Vencore has an aggressive target to hire and train 1,800 new veterans and family members by FY20 and are well on their way, boasting:
- A 30 percent veteran hiring rate thus far in 2016
- An industry leading 98.5 percent annual retention rate for Veterans
- Partnerships for military recruiting with Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America (IAVA), the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs and the Northern Virginia Technology Council (NVTC), among others
- Extremely competitive benefit programs for retired service members as well as members of the National Guard and Reserves.
