VELUX Announces Summer Rebate Program For Solar Powered Skylights
Rebate Plus Federal Tax Credit Can Make Top-of-the-Line Units Less Expensive Than Entry Level Models
FORT MILL, S.C., June 2, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- With a first-ever cash rebate offer to consumers, VELUX America has launched a program that can make its top-of-the-line venting fresh air skylights less expensive for homeowners than its entry level fixed skylights.
From now until August 15, 2014 a $200 cash rebate direct from VELUX to consumers, added to a 30 percent federal tax credit eligibility on VELUX no leak solar powered fresh air skylights, puts consumers in a position to upgrade from basic to best, while saving significant amounts of money on an attractive and functional home improvement that can be installed quickly.
"These Energy Star qualified skylights carry a 10-year no leak warranty and feature our latest energy efficient glazing option, Clean, Quiet and Safe Glass, which keeps the skylights cleaner while reducing outside noise," says Tim Miller, president of VELUX America. "They also operate by remote control and have a sensor to close them automatically in case of rain."
Miller says that a national trade publication selected the skylights as the most innovative window from a large manufacturer in 2013 while leading consumer magazines picked them for a 2013 innovation award and as one of the top 100 building products of 2013.
The skylights, as well as available remote controlled solar powered blinds, can be programmed to perform many functions, including opening and closing during the day to adjust natural light and fresh air entering the home. The solar powered skylights and blinds, as well as installation costs, are all eligible for the 30 percent federal tax credit.
To claim the $200 rebate per skylight, homeowners complete the form found at veluxusa.com/rebate. "Completed forms must be received by September 30, 2014," Miller says. "Consumers can claim up to $599 in rebates on skylight purchases during the rebate period. All solar models are eligible for the rebate, making these skylights the best value in the VELUX line."
The savings are available for replacing older skylights with full-featured, more energy efficient models, or for the installation of skylights for the first time. Replacing or installing new skylights in conjunction with reroofing work will result in even more savings.
Adding solar powered blinds, available in designer colors and patterns, to the skylights further increases energy efficiency to reduce power bills. A blackout blind can improve the energy performance rating as much as 45 percent, a light filtering blind by as much as 39 percent, and a Venetian blind by as much as 34 percent.
To illustrate how skylights and blinds will look, room-by-room in your home, there's a Skylight Planner App available. Just download it, take pictures of your rooms, and overlay skylight and blind combinations until you've found the perfect fit.
