Veloxity Powers Up Events with Cell Phone Charging Stations
Cell Phone Charging Company Responds to Strong Event Industry Growth
BOSTON, June 24, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Veloxity, a provider of commercial cell phone charging stations, is seeing increased demand for its services in the ever-growing trade show industry. Building on its successful partnerships with Comcast Cable at ESPN's 2014 XGames and Travelers Companies at the PGA Tour, among others, Veloxity is poised to meet growing power demands of convention attendees as social media takes a more central role in the trade show experience.
Several trade show and party planner industry analysts report that the event industry experienced steady growth in 2014. IBISWorld, a leading market industry research organization, reported that the industry saw 2.5% growth in 2015. That growth rate is expected to continue, if not accelerate, as the U.S. economy continues to improve. The trade show and convention industry generated some $4 billion in revenue last year, according to IBISWorld.
Even as the trade show industry has grown, competition for event planning dollars is fierce, as the top four event planners in the industry account for just 5% of the $4 billion in revenue, according to the same report. One of the differentiators in event success has quickly become the successful integration of social media, according to a BizBash report on event planning trends. Many event attendees are reporting the value of trade shows and conventions comes by providing real-time updates of events and news on social media feeds. That requires that event planners provide infrastructure for such endeavors, according to Veloxity CEO Krassi Popov.
"It's about more than providing good broadband," Popov says. "Attendees need to power up their devices quickly and securely to keep tweets and status updates coming. That's where our secure cell phone charging stations can play a central role."
Veloxity's secure charging stations can be a good draw for booths vying for attention in a crowded convention floor. That's why Comcast Cable elected to rent a Veloxity charging station for its booth at the ESPN 2014 XGames. Having a Veloxity charging station gave Comcast Cable employees a chance to reach some 115,000 attendees, says Brian Siebert, a Comcast Cable promotion and event specialist. "Customers could walk away assured that their phone would be there when they returned," Siebert says. Siebert also stressed the benefits of a second interaction with potential customers when they returned to pick up their phone, allowing for a deeper conversation.
Comcast Cable re-upped its partnership with Veloxity for the 2015 XGames. Other businesses and organizations who have used Veloxity charging stations include Boston University, Travelers Companies, Foxwoods, Verizon, and Red Bull. Clients have been impressed with the hassle-free installation and service that comes with renting the charging stations, and they even had a chance to recoup some of their investment through the sale of sponsorships on the surface of the charging units.
"The charging stations looked and worked great at Red Bull Guest House Miami," says Woodward, Embrace Entertainment.
Popov only sees the demand for charging stations at trade show and convention events increasing, and he believes Veloxity is poised to have an impact on the billion-dollar trade show industry.
"Real-time knowledge is power, and you can only report real-time knowledge on social media with power," Popov says. "That's why Veloxity is going to be an important part of event planning for the future."
