VelocityChess Selects Zoomi to Revolutionize Online Gaming Education
VelocityChess reports initial success after applying Zoomi's first-of-its-kind e-learning technology to online chess education course
MALVERN, Pa., April 27, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Zoomi today announced that VelocityChess has implemented the Zoomi e-learning technology to provide customized online training to all VelocityChess members. Unlike any other online gaming training, Zoomi applies its proprietary algorithms using predictive analytics to quickly assess a member's knowledge level and adjust the content in real-time to ensure they are presented with new material and lessons that help them hone their skills and progress to the next level of expertise.
"The Zoomi platform takes online training beyond static graphics and video to deliver a modern learning experience that engages our members and provides a learning path that is personalized to their skill level," said Evan Ju, CEO, VelocityChess. "There's no other technology like it. And when you look beyond the user experience, Zoomi provides insights through its deep analytics that allow us to fine tune the content based on how our members are engaging with it. This results in the best possible training experience for our members and we are excited about what that means for our business."
To coincide with the announcement, Zoomi released details on the success of VelocityChess' education portal since implementing Zoomi's technology platform last January. The course, which includes a series of videos, presentations and infographics, caters to a wide variety of skill levels – from novice to chessmaster. Using predictive analytics and machine learning, the Zoomi platform adapts course content in real-time based on an initial diagnostic quiz, as well as data collected as the user moves through the course. Zoomi's proprietary algorithms and learning analytics allow VelocityChess to interpret the user's behavioral, performance and social patterns, adapt the content to their skill level, and even predict whether or not they'll get the next question right.
To date, more than 1,400 users have taken the course. Nineteen percent of users have successfully completed the course, which is over six times greater than the average three to five percent course completion rate reported within the industry.
"We are excited about Zoomi's entry into the online gaming industry, one more business sector where the Zoomi technology platform can be utilized to adapt pre-existing educational content," said James Walker, executive chairman of Zoomi. "No other online gaming site is using technology like ours yet for player education. We're looking forward to continuing our work with VelocityChess and tracking how the technology impacts the growth of the site."
Ju and his team have already begun to update and improve the course material based on the initial findings collected on Zoomi's learning analytics dashboard. In the coming months, VelocityChess plans to incorporate a second version of the course using Zoomi's technology platform that will mimic having a personal chess master on hand, including additional chess courses, speed optimization, and more advanced analytics for a fully interactive chess board.
