HALETHORPE, Md., May 23, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Drive to 100's second year kicks off this summer, with the first award scheduled for June 24th in Baltimore. The partnership between Mazda's Northeast region and Baltimore-based nonprofit Vehicles for Change awards refurbished cars to families in-need of personal transportation to gain or maintain employment. Last year, the awards took place at Mazda dealerships from Northern Virginia to Massachusetts from April through December 2016. Similarly, this year's awards will take place throughout the Northeast region in Baltimore, Northern Virginia, Pittsburgh, Philadelphia, New York, Upstate New York and New Jersey.
To further support VFC's mission of helping low-income families become financially self-sufficient through access to transportation, participating Mazda dealerships are offering $500 toward the purchase of a new Mazda to anyone who donates a vehicle to VFC and brings in their donation receipt. Donations can be made directly to VFC or at the nearest participating Mazda dealership.
Wrapping up the first year of their 'Drive to 100' partnership, Mazda's Northeast region and Baltimore-based non-profit Vehicles for Change (VFC) announced the results of the program for 2016: 230 vehicles donated by Mazda customers to Vehicles for Change, 37 vehicles awarded to families across the East Coast, and over $46,000 raised for VFC through test drives and donations.
"We are very proud of what we've been able to accomplish with our partners and dealerships at Mazda," said VFC President Marty Schwartz. "We have positively impacted the lives of 37 low-income families and we look forward to growing our partnership to serve more in 2017."
"Our dealers' generosity and their enthusiastic support of Drive to 100's mission to provide reliable transportation to families in need made this program bigger and more impactful than we ever could have imagined," said Mazda's Northeast Region General Manager Brian Nash. "Giving back is at the core of what we do at Mazda, and we're thrilled to be able to partner with VFC and our dealers to have such a tremendous impact on families across our region."
