THOUSAND OAKS, Calif., Aug. 19, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The Ventura County Office of Education (VCOE) has partnered with Corwin, a leading professional learning provider for K–12 educators, to present L3: Learn, Lead, Launch Professional Learning Series as part of their ongoing mission to provide affordable and convenient professional growth opportunities to education professionals. Through this partnership, VCOE and Corwin aim to help educators explore some of the biggest ideas in education today and uncover key strategies to improve their practice and their schools. "For many years we have recognized the value that Corwin and its publications offer, and now look forward to the benefits that this partnership will provide to Ventura County's K–12 education community," said Stanley C. Mantooth, Ventura County's Superintendent of Schools.
Three themes will dominate the workshops: Visible Learning, Leadership and Student-Centered Vision, and Equity. VCOE and Corwin believe these three themes will provide educators with the tools needed to create effective change in their schools. Speakers in this year's lineup include:
- Dr. John Hattie, the revolutionary education researcher best known for his work on Visible Learning
- Dr. Russell Quaglia, described as America's foremost authority on the development and achievement of student voice and aspirations
- Jennifer Abrams, an international educational consultant who trains and coaches education professionals on successful instructional practices and having hard conversations
- Zaretta Hammond, an expert on culturally responsive teaching and promoting authentic engagement
"We have had the honor of working with the Ventura County Office of Education for many years, and this innovative L3 partnership takes us to a new level of cooperation. While Corwin and our incredible authors and consultants have a worldwide reach, contributing to VCOE's mission of quality services and lifelong learning makes us especially proud," said Mike Soules, President of Corwin. "This priceless experience will provide educators with the opportunity to collaborate with their peers while they learn from some of the top experts in education. VCOE and Corwin hope the L3: Professional Learning Series will help local school districts become exemplary places of learning and leadership that will launch students to future success."
