NEW YORK, Feb. 2, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Three Value Line Funds were named "Category Kings" by The Wall Street Journal. Value Line Asset Allocation Fund (VLAAX), Value Line Emerging Opportunities Fund (VLEOX) and Value Line Fund (VLIFX) were each recognized for one-year performance as of December 30, 2011 in the publication's "Investing in Funds: A Quarterly Analysis" (January 9, 2012). This is the sixth consecutive month that Value Line Fund has achieved this status.
"This recognition is a testament to the success of the investment strategies of our no-load mutual funds in 2011 and our commitment to providing a diversified fund line-up to help investors and advisors meet their investment goals," said Mitchell Appel, president of Value Line Funds and CEO of the adviser, EULAV Asset Management. "We appreciate the recognition by the Journal."
The Wall Street Journal's Category Kings title is given to funds that rank in the top 10 of their respective Lipper mutual fund categories, ranked by year-to-date total returns (include capital appreciation and reinvested distributions). For funds with multiple share classes, only the largest is shown.
"We are very proud of our performance," said Tom Sarkany, marketing director for Value Line Funds. "As importantly, we are maintaining our focus on managing risk to help investors preserve assets during these challenging economic times." The October issue of Kiplinger's also featured the Value Line Asset Allocation Fund, noting its reliance on the time-tested proprietary systems of Value Line in its overall approach. The article is available at www.vlfunds.com.
In addition, Value Line Asset Allocation Fund is ranked in the top decile of its Lipper peer group for one, and five year periods and in the top 15% for ten years. "Not many funds have that kind of track record," added Sarkany.
