Analyst Update: Monthly Traffic Updates, Profit Sharing Plans, Leadership Changes, and Services Improvements

Major U.S. and European equity indices rallied to multiyear or record highs on Thursday after a cease-fire between Russian separatists and Ukrainian forces, and unexpectedly aggressive stimulus by Sweden's central bank, cheered global markets. The Nasdaq Composite surged past multiyear highs reached in December to levels last seen in March 2000, closing up 1.18% higher at 4,857.1. Dow was up 0.62% to 17,972.38, while the S&P 500 rose 0.96% to close at 2,088.48. In Europe, shares reversed early losses on a broadly positive raft of results, with 62% of companies meeting or beating earnings forecasts. Sentiments in the European markets were boosted by the Ukraine peace agreement, Swedish economic stimulus measures and hope for a Greek debt deal. The Greek stock market jumped 6.7% after the ECB approved extra emergency finance for Greek banks. In Asia, Japanese stocks rallied to their highest settlement in more than seven years as a weaker yen supported many export-related shares. Most other Asian markets too ended on a positive note.
Alaska Air Group, Inc. (Alaska Air) announced operational results for January 2015. The Company's consolidated traffic for the month grew 7.9% YoY to 2.5 billion revenue passenger miles (RPMs), on a 10.4% YoY increase in capacity to 3.1 billion available seat miles (ASMs).
Avianca Holdings S.A. (Avianca) announced its December 2014 traffic update. During the month, the Company along with its subsidiaries carried 2,387,627 passengers, representing a 10.6% YoY increase, reaching a load factor of 80.4%.
Southwest Airlines Company (Southwest Airlines) announced that it will share $355 million, $127 million more than the previous record, through its ProfitSharing Plan with its Employees for 2014. This contribution is the largest total dollar amount the Company has ever allocated to ProfitSharing.
China Southern Airlines Company Limited (China Southern Airlines) announced leadership changes. The Company's board has approved the removal of its Executive Director, Executive Vice President, Chief Financial Officer and Chief Accountant Mr. Xu Jie Bo and Executive Vice President Mr. Zhou Yue Hai.
The ultra-low cost airline operating the most extensive domestic route network servicing the US and Mexico markets, Controladora Vuela Compania de Aviacion, S.A.B. de C.V. (Volaris), announced the deployment of the Electronic Flight Bag Program (EFB) on all aircraft cockpits enabling Volaris pilots the use of electronic tablets replacing paper and physical documentation on all flights.
