Valley Health Selects Capsule for Medical Device Integration in its Operating Rooms

ANDOVER, Mass., Jan. 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Capsule Tech, Inc., the leading global provider of medical device connectivity solutions, today announced that Valley Health, based in Winchester, VA, has chosen Capsule to integrate medical devices in operating rooms throughout its 6-hospital health system with the installation of the Epic electronic medical record (EMR).  Patient vital signs will be collected and sent in near real-time via a combination of connectivity deployment options including Capsule Neuron™, DataCaptor™ Client and gateway connections. Valley Health has partnered on the Epic project with Inova Health System in Falls Church, VA, which implemented Epic and Capsule in 2012.

Capsule's device integration solutions enable connectivity between virtually any medical device and any EMR or clinical information system allowing hospitals to choose their type and scope of project. Capsule's proprietary DataCaptor™ connectivity software manages the communication between medical devices and their destination information system(s).  Deployed through software on a PC, terminal server, and/or bedside hardware such as the Capsule Neuron, patient data can be collected continuously in acute care settings, or periodically in lower acuity, multi-patient environments.
