Valensa Launches Go Easy™ for Improved Gastrointestinal Health in a 'Fast Food' World
New, Patented Policosanol Micro-dispersion Provides Plant-Wax and Omega-3 Fatty Acids to Assist More Frequent, Comfortable Regularity
ANAHEIM, Calif., March 10, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- In yet another product designed to combat the effects of the "fast food lifestyle" on consumers, Valensa International (Eustis, FL USA) announced a new, patented formulation that combines the natural effects of plant-based waxy policosanols and Omega-3 fatty acids in a synergistic formula designed to promote regularity. Called Go Easy™, the new formulation features a patented micro-dispersion of natural, plant-based, non-GMO policosanols, Cranberry seed extract and Valensa's Tresalbio chia seed extract in a convenient softgel. The formulation was shown to increase the number of bowel movements of test subjects by 50% daily in a pre-clinical trial. The botanical-based formulation has the effect of reintroducing the positive GI effects of policosanols, usually found in a diet full of leafy green vegetables that are often lacking in the modern environment. It promotes regularity by offering mild lubrication to the bolus of food in the GI tract without some of the unpleasant side effects of traditional laxatives or soluble fibers used for similar effects. The Go Easy™ clinical trial also showed a reduction of cholesterol by around 15% -- possibly related to the known cholesterol re-uptake (reabsorption) mechanism operating in people who have infrequent bowel movements.
According to Dr. Rudi E. Moerck, President and CEO of Valensa, one of the primary benefits that supplements can provide is to restore a natural balance to the diets of people who have increasingly moved to processed foods. "Our digestive systems evolved with diets that had plenty of leafy green vegetables and fruits -- all of which have botanical waxes (policosanols) as key components of their makeup. When we overcook or process these foods or remove them from our diets, we lose these natural waxes and our regularity suffers. Go Easy™ is a simple approach to restoring these elements into our diets -- using some fairly sophisticated technology," he said. "The combination of policosanols -- which are fatty alcohols -- and Omega-3 fatty acids, offers very safe, very mild efficacy without having to deal with the harshness and diarrhea of chemical laxatives or the gas and bloating that people experience when they use soluble fibers to promote regularity," he added. "Go Easy™ is safe to take with a high fiber diet, especially diets that contain insoluble fiber like found in Valensa's flagship ChiaMax™ product."
A state-of-the-art policosanol formulation
The policosanols used in Go Easy™ are extracted from plant sources using Valensa's DeepExtract™ technology. The fatty alcohols are then micro-dispersed in Omega-3 oils, including extracts of cranberry seed and Tresalbio. Valensa's proprietary botanically derived stabilization system -- called the O2B peroxidation blocker -- ensures stability of the Go Easy™ formulation and provides additional beneficial antioxidants to the formula.
