LOS ANGELES, Nov. 20, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Valencia Technologies Corporation ("Valencia") was selected as one of five recipients of the 2015 Patrick Soon-Shiong Innovation Awards on November 18th 2015 hosted by the Los Angeles Business Journal. Alongside eleven other finalists, Chief of Administration, Stacy Chambliss, presented Valencia's coin-sized electroceutical for the treatment of major chronic conditions.
"Radically small, relatively inexpensive, and elegantly simple to implant," Stacy said, "the device makes major advancements in a 55-year-old field of neuromodulation such that the tiny device is better described by a new term called 'electroceutical.'"
Valencia's founder and CEO, Jeff Greiner, said about winning the award, "Patrick Soon-Shiong is one of the world's most important visionaries in the field of healthcare. To win an award sponsored by the LA Business Journal with Patrick's engagement and support is a great honor. We're truly humbled and grateful for this recognition."
Valencia created a coin-sized and shaped device that is placed easily in the periphery for the treatment of various chronic conditions. Since Valencia's inception in 2010, the Company has fully developed the platform technology, obtained more than eleven issued patents, built out an ISO certified manufacturing facility, and conducted a double-blinded, sham-controlled international clinical trial yielding results of clinical significance in hypertension.
When asked about Valencia's innovative focus, Greiner added, "We've built a culture of innovation at Valencia by recruiting the top creators in our field, by publicly praising and rewarding their inventions, by encouraging open discussions where the purpose is to get the best solution, and by appreciating deeply that patients' lives are improved through fearlessness and imagination."
