Val Verde Regional Medical Center, a partner with Methodist Hospital in San Antonio, has served the residents of Val Verde County, Texas, since 1959, providing comprehensive healthcare services to approximately 50,000 county residents across a 3,150 square mile region.
Using the Allen E3 Patient Engagement Solution on Samsung Smart TVs, Val Verde's patients will access interactive health education content, entertainment programming and patient engagement services, all from their patient bed, without having to call a nurse or interrupt staff members.
Each patient will access pre-assigned health education and safety videos through E3's personalized inbox on their TV, with pop-ups and reminders to guide them throughout their stay. Once integrated with the hospital's electronic health record system, patients' completion and comprehension of education will be automatically recorded directly into each patient's health record, allowing nursing staff to spend more time on patient care and less time on documentation.
Through E3, patients access TV programming, movies, games, Internet and music. Relaxation tools, noise reduction videos and soundtracks promote relaxation, reduce ambient noise and help patients rest more comfortably. In addition, Val Verde patients will be able to request room services like extra linens or room maintenance directly through their interactive television using their pillow speaker. E3 also empowers patients by gathering real-time patient input on their care and their hospital stay, enabling the hospital to respond quickly, resolve patient concerns, and positively impact patient satisfaction and HCAHPS.
