UVI RTPark Program Reaches Milestone With 50th Client Despite Devastating Hurricane
NEW YORK, Oct. 20, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- The UVI RTPark, the Specialist Economic Development Program of the U.S. Virgin Islands, reached a milestone this week - despite significant damage suffered from Hurricane Maria - with the addition of the 50th client to its network.
The Board of the RTPark this week approved Regal Software VI, LLC, as the newest member of the program, three weeks after Hurricane Maria devastated St Croix and the institution's own headquarters.
The firm, led by Kofi Conduah, will design, build, maintain and deploy software applications that optimize and automate financial transactions. Regal's operations in the US Virgin Islands will also engage in building and servicing software applications for corporations, schools, and individual consumers.
"Their services are typical of RTPark companies that are technology and knowledge-intensive firms that bring world class service delivery to the US Virgin Islands," said UVI RTPark executive director, Dr. Gillian Marcelle. "This is yet another example of how we can diversify our economic activities beyond bricks and mortar."
Regal is another example of the RTPark program seeking out impact investors who are as interested in making social investments as they are with financial returns. In this case, Regal provided pro bono services to set up a donation platform for the RTPark program that is being used to raise funds to help restore and rebuild the US Virgin Islands.
Regal will also provide financial and in kind contributions to the University of the Virgin Islands (UVI) to the value of USD 500,0000 through scholarships, and supporting a new mentoring and training initiative to encourage male students to take up STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics) educational opportunities.
"We are pleased to be part of the effort to get the U.S. Virgin Islands back to business and are happy to be making a difference," Regal's Founder and CEO Kofi Conduah said.
