Partnership Creates More Opportunities for Finance Professionals
UTICA, N.Y., Jan. 6, 2016 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Beginning this month, Utica College will partner with the National Society of Compliance Professionals (NSCP) to provide a graduate-level certificate program for financial securities compliance professionals planning to obtain the Certified Securities Compliance Professional (CSCP) designation.
In 2007, the NSCP enlisted a select group of compliance professionals to define a curriculum and examination which became the original CSCP certification program. Since then, the CSCP has taken on greater significance as the need for future security and compliance professionals continues to grow. The CSCP is the only designation offered through an independent non-profit organization of compliance professionals which distinguishes a securities compliance professional for investment advisers and broker-dealers.
In 2015, Utica College collaborated with the NSCP to create a new online curriculum consisting of courses in legal and regulatory issues for fraud management, management ethics, fraud management and compliance, information and communication security, advanced issues in regulatory surveillance and policy development, and an assurance and forensic auditing seminar.
"Program partnerships like this are exactly what institutions of higher learning need to focus on to meet the needs of fast-changing professions like compliance and enterprise risk management. Our school views these partnerships as the future of continuing education," said Dr. James Norrie, dean of the School of Business and Justice Studies at Utica College.
In addition, UC students will receive credits and a discount toward an MBA with a concentration in fraud management or a master's in financial crime management.
"Industry regulations and government legislation have created an increased need for compliance professionals. Compliance is a unique discipline which requires diverse skills beyond those generally found in a single field of knowledge. This program will help to fill that important need within the industry," said Suzanne Lynch, program director and professor of practice in economic crime at Utica College.
