Utah Virtual Academy Welcomes Back New and Returning Students Statewide
Applications still being accepted for full-time and part-time enrollments
MURRAY, Utah, Aug. 22, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- School starts today for students enrolled in Utah Virtual Academy (UTVA). UTVA is the largest online public charter school in the state serving students in grades K through 12. UTVA is tuition free public school that gives students access to high quality online courses and an individualized education program.
New to the 2011 school year, high school students statewide can now enroll in UTVA part-time for courses as a supplement to their school or district offerings. Online courses are available to any Utah high school student currently attending a brick-and-mortar school within their resident district or a state-approved charter school.
Students can take up to two credit-bearing online courses per semester. Supplemental course options include: Personal Finance, Computer Literacy, and AP® courses in English, Calculus, Biology, U.S. Government, European History, and Psychology.
UTVA students use the award-winning K12 curriculum, developed by the nation's largest provider of online school programs for students in kindergarten through high school. K12 provides its academic programs to students in 29 states and the District of Columbia.
UTVA teachers are state-certified and provide instruction, guidance, support, and regularly interact with students and parents via email, interactive web-based classrooms, online discussions, phone, and face-to-face meetings. The UTVA school community organizes monthly activities for students, families, and staff.
