USTV's Ted Nelson Strengthens Alliance with Manhattan Center Productions
Nelson Helping to Attract Top Talent to Facility's Television Studios
NEW YORK, Oct. 28, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- When Cold Pizza finished its run on ESPN2 in 2007, it marked the end of one of the most original sports programs in television history. But it also marked the beginning of a relationship between Ted Nelson—a veteran TV producer associated with the series—and Manhattan Center, the innovative New York City production facility that was part of the show's success.
In the years since 2007, Nelson has founded and served as Chief Executive Officer of USTV Television Management Services; he has an office at Manhattan Center and has made ample use of its state-of-the-art facilities. He has also been instrumental in directing business to Manhattan Center's TV studios.
Most recently, Nelson was a key player in attracting Al Jazeera America to launch its 24/7 news network using Manhattan Center Productions' TV1 studio and its newly renovated newsroom.
"Manhattan Center was key to the success of Cold Pizza, and I'm glad that we have continued to work together," Nelson said. "The success of USTV as a television production venture is a direct result of the cutting-edge tools available there."
Nelson added, "I was especially privileged to play a role in helping to bring Al Jazeera America to Manhattan Center. Their choice to set up shop at this location attests to the impressive facilities that can be found here."
Peter Ross, President of Manhattan Center Productions, said, "We are grateful to be working with such a talented professional as Ted Nelson. He remains closely attuned to trends in the industry and very informed about which productions have been greenlit, and is helping us to attract top talent to our television studios. This in turn is assisting us in growing both our business and our reputation."
Nelson has been working in the production and operations side of television since 1986. From capturing news as a photographer to setting up and operating microwave and satellite news vehicles, to working as technical director and technical manager, he has been directly involved in all facets of news gathering and delivery. He has managed live production crews, post-production facilities and multi-camera remote events, union and non-union crews.
