USRA Welcomes Newest Member: University of Stuttgart
COLUMBIA, Md., April 14 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Universities Space Research Association (USRA) is extremely proud to welcome the University of Stuttgart to its distinguished group of member universities. The addition of this outstanding university, which brings the number of USRA member universities to 105, expands USRA's already significant reach into the space science university and research communities and enhances the association's ability to not only carry its 40-year tradition of excellence in space and earth sciences into the future, but also to build on that tradition and expand its abilities to meet future challenges.
The University of Stuttgart is situated in the middle of a highly dynamic economic region, with a worldwide reputation for excellence in science and technology. The University of Stuttgart was founded in 1829, at the beginning of the industrial age in Europe, and the university has always been noted for fostering cooperation between technical, physical and human sciences. Today the university is a modern, achievement-orientated institution with a comprehensive range of subjects and a focus on technical and physical disciplines.
"We are very pleased to welcome this distinguished university to membership in USRA," said USRA President and CEO, Dr. Frederick A. Tarantino. "As USRA moves forward, we recognize that it is vital to the future of space science research and exploration that we forge bonds with the best and brightest, not only in our own nation but in the international science community as well. As the Operator of the Deutsche SOFIA Institute, Stuttgart is already a USRA partner in a number of key research areas. The addition of the University of Stuttgart is a strong step in that forward direction."
