USHCC Foundation and Wells Fargo Host Chamber Training Institute on Nonprofit Organization Management for Hispanic Businesses in Southern California
WASHINGTON, March 3, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- The United States Hispanic Chamber of Commerce (USHCC) Foundation and Wells Fargo hosted the USHCC Foundation Chamber Training Institute in Long Beach, CA from February 16-20, 2011. In partnership with the University of Notre Dame and underwritten by Wells Fargo, the USHCC's four-day nonprofit certificate program covered topics related to Nonprofit Organization Management.
Long Beach Port Commissioner Mario Cordero and California State Assembly Member Tony Mendez attended the Institute, addressing over 40 participants, representing 18 different local chambers, on the importance and economic contributions of Hispanic chambers of commerce and small businesses in the state.
"Our Chamber Training Institute was designed specifically for our network of over 200 Hispanic chambers of commerce nationwide and we are proud of what we accomplished in Long Beach," says Javier Palomarez, USHCC President & CEO. "Our goal is to present opportunities for chamber leaders and board members across the country run their chambers more effectively through this program."
Faculty from the University of Notre Dame guided attendees through courses that included strategic planning, nonprofit marketing, organizational and program evaluation, retention and management, and volunteer recruitment. Those who completed all four days of the program received a Certificate in Nonprofit Organization Management from the University of Notre Dame. The program has been underwritten by Wells Fargo for the past two years.
