USAA's Hurricane Irma and Harvey Relief Efforts Now Exceed $4 Million
The USAA Foundation, Inc., provides an additional $2 million to benefit hurricane relief efforts
SAN ANTONIO, Sept. 18, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- USAA announced today at least $2 million in additional donations to support Hurricane Irma and Hurricane Harvey disaster response and recovery efforts, bringing its total contributions following the recent storms to more than $4 million.
The USAA Foundation, Inc., is contributing $2 million to benefit national agencies such as The Salvation Army, American Red Cross and Team Rubicon, local food banks in Tampa and relief societies representing all military branches.
"We know Hurricane Irma had a significant impact on our members, our employees and millions of Americans across Florida and the Southeast," said Stuart Parker, USAA CEO. "I'm especially proud of our USAA family who stood up to take care of our Tampa employees so that they can recover quickly and return to doing what they do best – serving our military members and their families."
Yvette Segura, vice president and general manager of the Tampa offices said, "We are very fortunate to work for an organization that understands the needs of its members and its employees. We are working to make sure our employees affected by Hurricane Irma have the support they need."
More than 2,000 USAA employees put together 4,000 care packages on Sept. 11 that were shipped to Tampa employees to aid in the relief and recovery efforts.
Previous contributions from USAA, The USAA Foundation, Inc., and USAA employees and retirees have surpassed $2 million in philanthropic support to the American Red Cross, Team Rubicon and the San Antonio Food Bank for Hurricane Harvey disaster response and recovery efforts.
