MCLEAN, Va., March 7, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- USA TODAY Sports Media Group announced today a partnership between Schedule Star LLC and AllPlayers.com Inc., bringing together two of the nation's leaders in high school sports information to create one of the largest athlete databases in the country.
The partnership, data from which will live on USATodayHSS.com—Gannett's second largest online media offering behind USAToday.com—combines existing databases that feature millions of active amateur athletes while simultaneously unifying profiles of high school athletes across platforms. The resulting database bridges the gap between school-based activities and club sports.
"USA TODAY Sports Media Group has reaffirmed USA TODAY High School Sports' position as a leader by bringing together Schedule Star LLC and AllPlayers.com Inc., two valued database providers in the industry," said Dave Morgan, President, USA TODAY Sports Media Group. "We're proud to share USA TODAY High School Sports' new clearinghouse of athlete information; it's sure to be an unparalleled tool for coaches and athletes alike."
Schedule Star is a longtime partner for the Gannett family, adding HighSchoolSports.net (now USATodayHSS.com) to help athletic directors communicate data to parents, student athletes, media and the general public in the 1990s. In 2007, Gannett acquired the company. AllPlayers.com, which specializes in sports, education and other recreational market segment data, provides the cloud-based platform to house Schedule Star's extensive longitudinal data.
