USA TODAY Presents Fifth Annual Pulse of America Signature Series at Advertising Week 2010
MCLEAN, Va., Sept. 9 /PRNewswire/ -- As a presenting sponsor of Advertising Week 2010 in New York, USA TODAY will present three USA TODAY Pulse of America panels as a returning signature series of the annual festival which begins Monday, Sept. 27. This year's panel topics will include embedded marketing, political advertising and a showcase of winners of the 57th annual Cannes International Advertising Festival and Young Lions competition.
Advertising Week 2010 is North America's largest gathering of the advertising industry. The annual event attracts more than 8,000 registered participants from agencies and advertisers representing more than 70 countries.
On Wednesday, Sept. 29, at 12 p.m. Pulse of America will kick off with the "Cannes International Advertising Festival Lions and Young Lions Winners' Showcase." As the exclusive U.S. representative to the world's most prestigious advertising competition, USA TODAY will present a unique showcase of the 2010 winners selected at the 57th annual Cannes Lions Advertising Festival, also featuring winners from the Young Lions competition of advertising professionals 28 years old and younger. The event will be moderated by USA TODAY reporter Laura Petrecca. The panel will include: Bob Greenberg, chairman, CEO, & global chief creative officer, R/GA and 2010 titanium/integrated jury president; Jon Kamen, chairman & CEO, @radical.media and 2010 film craft jury president; and Tor Myhren, chief creative officer, Grey New York and 2010 film judge. The panel will be held at The Paley Center for Media (Concourse Theater) at 25 West 52nd Street, NYC with reception to follow in Steven Spielberg Gallery at 1:00 p.m.
Wednesday, Sept. 29, at 4 p.m. USA TODAY presents "2010 Midterm Election Multi-Media Advertising." The event will feature a spirited critique of advertising for the 2010 midterm election ads and a look at the degree to which these ads use national figures like Obama, Palin, and Pelosi. The panel will be moderated by Susan Page, USA TODAY White House bureau chief, and features panelists Tad Devine, Democratic political consultant and strategist, and Rex Elsass, Republican and political consultant and strategist. The panel will be held at The Paley Center for Media (Mark Goodson Theater) with reception to follow in the Steven Spielberg Gallery at 5:00 p.m.
USA TODAY will conclude the Pulse of America series at Advertising Week 2010 on Thursday, Sept. 30 at 4 p.m. with "The Evolution of Embedded Entertainment Marketing." Moderated by USA TODAY entertainment reporter Ann Oldenburg, this discussion will take a forward approach on the transformation of using simple brand inclusions in movies and television programs to the present day multi-faceted discipline that strategically utilizes entertainment to market and publicize brand name products and services. The panel will include: Jocelyn Egan, senior vice president, Discovery Solutions at Discovery Communications; Guy McCarter, managing director, Green Room Entertainment/OMG Entertainment & Sports; and Mark Owens, president, NMA Group & Vanguard Entertainment. The panel will be held at USA TODAY New York City headquarters (31st Floor Theater) at 535 Madison Avenue on 54th Street, NYC with reception to follow at 5:00 p.m.
