USA TODAY High School Sports Unveils 2013 American Family Insurance All-USA Boys Basketball Team

MCLEAN, Va., April 18, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- USA TODAY High School Sports today unveiled the 2013 All-USA boys basketball team, highlighting the best high school players from across the country during the 2012-2013 season.

Andrew Wiggins, an undecided 6-8 senior guard/forward from Huntington Prep (Huntington, W. Va.), has been selected as the national Player of the Year. Wiggins averaged 23.4 points, 11.2 rebounds, 2.6 blocks and 2.5 assists per game, leading his team to a 30-3 finish and a No. 7 ranking in the USA TODAY Super 25 rankings.

Kevin Boyle, who guided Florida's Montverde Academy to a 25-2 record and the number one spot in the USA TODAY Super 25 rankings, is the national Coach of the Year.  Boyle, previously named Coach of the Year in 2007, also led his team to a National High School Invitational title this season.

The full All-USA teams (first, second and third teams) appear in today's print edition of USA TODAY and are also available online at usatodayhss.com. The All-USA Team and its year-end player and coach awards have been given out annually since 1983 and are considered the highest such honors in high school basketball. Past player of the year honorees include several NBA stalwarts, including Kevin Garnett (Farragut Academy of Chicago in 1995), Kobe Bryant (Lower Merion, Pa. in 1996) and LeBron James (twice, in 2002 and 2003, at St. Vincent-St. Mary of Akron, Ohio).

Joining Wiggins on the All-USA first team is 6-8 Duke-bound forward Jabari Parker of Simeon (Chicago), who is the only returning player from last season's All-USA team.  Parker averaged 18.4 points, 10.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists this season while leading Simeon to its fourth consecutive 4A state title.

Two Kentucky-bound stars have been named to this season's All-USA team: 6-9 forward Julius Randle of Prestonwood Christian (Plano, Texas), who missed much of the season with a broken foot but returned to help the team to its second consecutive Texas Association of Private and Parochial Schools Class 5A title; and 6-5 guard Aaron Harrison of Travis (Richmond, Texas), who averaged 23.1 points, 5.2 rebounds, 2.5 assists and 2 blocks to help his team repeat as 5A state champion.

They are joined by this season's lone junior—center Jahlil Okafor of Whitney Young (Chicago)—who averaged 20.7 points, 8.8 rebounds and 2.9 blocks per game to lead Whitney Young to a city title.
