McLEAN, Va., Feb. 10, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- USA TODAY and Gannett Co., Inc. (NYSE: GCI), together the official U.S. representative to the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity, today announced that ONE, the well known campaign and advocacy organization, will be the featured non-profit for this year's excellence in creative communications competition, the 2014 U.S. Young Lions Competitions.
The registered U.S. teams were today presented with a creative brief from ONE challenging them to submit work in four categories – Cyber, Film, Media and Print. "TEAM USA," made up of winning teams from the four different categories, will face competition from all over the world at the Global Young Lions Competitions that takes place during the Cannes Lions Festival in June. New this year, U.S. participants could also be spotlighted for notable work identified by each of the four U.S. Young Lions Sponsors. The U.S. Young Lion winners and the spotlighted teams could potentially see their work come to life in a creative campaign for ONE.
"We are honored to have long been the U.S. representative for Cannes Lions, the world's leading celebration of creativity in communications. Adding ONE as the non-profit this year has been inspiring. We both share the common mission to serve our communities, and are excited to foster our nation's best and brightest young minds to share ideas," said Maryam Banikarim, CMO of Gannett.
"ONE is incredibly excited to be collaborating with USA TODAY and Gannett on the U.S. Young Lions Competitions. We can't wait to see what the best and brightest creative young minds come up with, and are looking forward to bringing their ideas to life in the fight against extreme poverty," said Jeff Davidoff, CMO of ONE.
The Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity will be held June 15-21, 2014 in Cannes, France.
Participating U.S. Young Lion Sponsors include: DigitasLBi for Cyber; Pereira & O'Dell for Film, and Starcom MediaVest Group's Spark. USA TODAY sponsors the Print competition.
