MCLEAN, Va., Sept. 17, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- USA TODAY, a multi-platform news and information media company, today announced the debut of "Michael Wolff," a weekly media column from renowned journalist and best-selling author Michael Wolff. The column will run every Monday in the print and online editions of USA TODAY, beginning today.
"As one of the most prominent and respected voices in the media business, Michael knows the industry better than anyone else," said Dave Callaway, USA TODAY's editor-in-chief. "For more than two decades, he has covered some of the most transformative events in media, in addition to authoring some of the most impactful and thought-provoking books. We are thrilled to bring his column and insights about the future of media to our loyal USA TODAY readers each week. This is an important step as USA TODAY increases its focus on covering breaking news and developments in the media industry."
"There are few things in American life that the media doesn't touch--and few things its transformation won't effect," said Wolff. "It's the most exciting and important story of our time and USA TODAY will be a great platform from which to tell it."
Wolff is a two-time winner of the National Magazine Award, a contributing editor at Vanity Fair, a founder of Newser.com and the author of a recent biography of Rupert Murdoch, "The Man Who Owns the News." For many years, Wolff wrote a much-followed column about media for New York Magazine. In addition to the media, Wolff's subjects have ranged from politics and technology to covering the beginnings of the Iraq war from U.S. Military headquarters in the region, to a recent cover story in New York magazine about his mother's long-term battle with dementia. He has written numerous best-selling books including "Burn Rate," a memoir about his dotcom start-up. He writes a regular column for The Guardian and British GQ.
