USA Funds offers colleges new approaches to student loan debt issues
Oct. 3 webcast to address student loan default prevention challenges
INDIANAPOLIS, Sept. 25, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- As the nation's colleges and universities review newly released student loan default rates, USA Funds® provides resources to help campus administrators reduce future default rates.
USA Funds will host a free, one-hour webcast on Wednesday, Oct. 3, from 2-3 p.m. Eastern time to help colleges and universities take action to address student loan debt challenges and improve their cohort default rates.
During the webcast, USA Funds consultants will describe how campuses can:
- Include the entire institution in default prevention and student success planning efforts.
- Share messages about responsible borrowing throughout students' experiences on campus, from enrollment to exit counseling, and stay in contact with borrowers after they leave campus.
- Incorporate financial literacy education through a life-of-the-student approach.
- Develop effective debt management plans to promote successful student loan repayment.
The webcast will highlight best practices and examples of how some schools are using early outreach, financial literacy, regular communication, personal counseling and follow-up to ensure student loan borrowers are successfully repaying their education loans.
One webcast participant will be selected to win a free, one-hour debt management consultation and assessment from USA Funds.
College administrators may register online for the Oct. 3 webcast by visiting events.usafunds.org and selecting "Default Prevention Challenges" from the Webcasts tab.
