WASHINGTON, Sept. 26, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Public Use Microdata Sample (PUMS) files for the U.S. Virgin Islands and Guam are intended for data users who would like to create their own tabulations. The files contain population and housing characteristics for a 10 percent sample of total housing units and the people in the occupied units. People living in group quarters also are included in the sample. The records do not contain names or addresses and are provided at the Island Area level to safeguard against the possibility of individual disclosure. PUMS files are not available for American Samoa and the Commonwealth of the Northern Mariana Islands since these geographic areas did not meet the minimum population threshold of 100,000 required for disclosure avoidance.
