U.S. Transportation Command Awards $18 Million Task Order To SAIC
Company to Provide Business Process Management (BPM) Support for Agile Transportation for the 21st Century (AT21) Initiative
MCLEAN, Va., March 22 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- Science Applications International Corporation (SAIC) (NYSE: SAI) today announced it has been awarded a task order by the U. S. Transportation Command (USTRANSCOM) to support the Agile Transportation for the 21st Century (AT21) initiative by providing process and systems improvement and reengineering for business process management (BPM) development activities. The task order has a six-month base period of performance, four one-year options, a six-month extension period, and a total value of more than $18 million, if all options and extensions are exercised. Work will be performed in O'Fallon, Ill., and Scott Air Force Base, Ill. The task order was awarded under the Defense Information Systems Agency's ENCORE II contract.
USTRANSCOM provides air, land and sea transportation for the Department of Defense. Its AT21 initiative is a strategic outcome from a 2005 Advanced Concept Technology Demonstration/Military Utility Assessment, and is designed to provide improved time-definite delivery and best-value transportation solutions to fully support combatant commanders' movement requirements. Under this task order, SAIC will help manage the development of AT21 capabilities to meet warfighter movement requirements through improved on-time delivery. SAIC will apply best business practices and configure the BPM tool, WebMethods, to standardize, automate, benchmark, and improve USTRANSCOM deployment and distribution business processes.
