U.S. Solicitor General, Elena Kagan, Receives the Endorsement of the HNBA to Serve as Associate Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court
WASHINGTON, July 1 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Today the Hispanic National Bar Association (HNBA) announced its support of the appointment of U.S. Solicitor General Elena Kagan to serve as Associate Justice of the Supreme Court of the United States. Through its judicial due diligence review process, the HNBA has endorsed Solicitor Kagan after careful consideration of her background and qualifications in the context of the requirements of the position she seeks.
"Based on our review, it is clear that Solicitor General Kagan possesses the experience, temperament, and high degree of professionalism required to distinguish herself as a Justice on the United States Supreme Court," stated Roman D. Hernandez, HNBA National President.
"The HNBA submits this endorsement with some expression of concern for Solicitor General Kagan's less than vibrant record on diversity and community service, principles the HNBA is mindful of in consideration of any nominee. However, she has served as an effective and impressive advocate for the United States government, and we embrace the opportunity to work with her on these values, should she be confirmed," added Mr. Hernandez.
The HNBA is an incorporated, not-for-profit, non-partisan, national membership organization that represents the interests of the more than 100,000 attorneys, judges, law professors, legal assistants, and law students of Hispanic descent in the United States, its territories and Puerto Rico.
