Annual Sustainability Report highlights Company's 2014 accomplishments and future goals
FREDERICK, Md., June 4, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- U.S. Silica (NYSE: SLCA) today released its 2014 Sustainability Report, Intersections, detailing the accomplishments over the past year that contributed to the Company's success in reaching key targets in safety, environmental protection and community support.
The fifth annual Sustainability Report details how the Company's sustainability efforts intersect with every facet of its business, including U.S. Silica's commitment to community investment, employee safety and environmental stewardship. U.S. Silica reached significant milestones in 2014, cementing its status as an industry leader while paving the way for continued innovation and success.

This year, U.S. Silica continued to raise the bar as an industry leader, achieving a number of goals earlier than initially targeted. Accomplishments highlighted in the 2014 report include:
- An overall reduction of 13 percent in greenhouse gas emissions; the installation of solar-powered technology and groundbreaking water recycling systems; and 2 million pounds of waste donated or recycled
- An investment in state-of-the-art technology and injury prevention programs aimed at ensuring employee safety
- The launch of new products that have introduced U.S. Silica to new customers and markets
The Sustainability Report also lays out strategies for the future, including its Bold Goals which are: achieving zero lost time incidents or employee injuries; growing its community outreach program; and reducing, reusing or recycling 90 percent of all waste materials Company-wide.
