U.S. Senator Michael Bennet to Help InnovAge Celebrate Grand Opening of New 36,000 Square-Foot Facility in Denver
Newest InnovAge PACE Center will Help Denver Seniors With Critical Adult Day/Health Services
DENVER, Jan. 24, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- U.S. Sen. Michael Bennet (D-CO) joined InnovAge today to celebrate the grand opening of the nonprofit's newest adult day/health center in Denver. The new center, called InnovAge Greater Colorado PACE – Denver, is a 36,000 square-foot facility located on two acres at 1265 South Broadway (formerly the location of Gump Glass). The new center replaced the nearby InnovAge Greater Colorado PACE – Capitol Center, which had outgrown its current facility, and serves the growing need for services for the elderly in central Denver.
"We have seen a great demand for this innovative system of care designed to meet the needs of individuals who need a nursing home level of care but who want to remain living in their homes and communities," said Maureen Hewitt, president and CEO of InnovAge. "Our new facility features state-of-the-art technology and the latest in elder-care innovations, and it will allow us to nearly double our capacity to more than 750 participants and grow our staff to more than 150 employees."
InnovAge Greater Colorado PACE (IGCP) is a part of Medicare's national Program of All-inclusive Care for the Elderly (PACE) that helps qualified seniors and those over age 55 living with disabilities to live as independently as possible rather than in nursing centers. IGCP provides and coordinates healthcare, in-home care and a variety of support services to help many aging individuals continue to live in their communities. The program also provides caregivers with the peace of mind that their loved ones are enjoying the best quality of life possible, and offers them a respite from the often strenuous demands of care-giving.
"InnovAge's opening of this facility represents an ongoing commitment to provide Denver-area seniors with high-quality health care services and support," said Sen. Bennet. "In addition, this PACE program gives families the help they need to allow their elderly loved ones to stay in their homes and communities."
InnovAge has supported and cared for thousands of seniors since its PACE program began in 1991. The InnovAge Greater Colorado PACE – Denver Center is the newest of five Colorado InnovAge PACE centers. The organization expects to open an additional PACE center in 2014 located in Loveland to serve northern Colorado residents.
The new center includes a primary care clinic with seven exam rooms and a room for specialty physicians; nurse triage and treatment; a therapy gym that supports physical, occupational and speech therapies; a dental examination and treatment room; seven day rooms for social activities -- with attached quiet rooms; a dining room and various other rooms for social work, home care, and nutrition. The new center also incorporates the InnovAge transportation facility, which was previously located at 28th and Larimer streets downtown.
"With a restoration of the Gump Glass building into this beautiful new facility, InnovAge is playing a major role in the renovation of this historic community in central Denver," said Hewitt.
InnovAge Greater Colorado PACE is a program of InnovAge, a nonprofit offering a broad range of services for aging adults and other disabled individuals in need of care and support to remain independent in their homes and communities. InnovAge currently operates in Colorado and New Mexico, with expansion into California in 2014. InnovAge offers in-home care services, healthcare and day programs, care management, memory loss programs and affordable senior housing. The organization's mission is to sustain and enhance the independence and quality of life on their terms for those it serves.
