PITTSBURGH, April 30, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- United Steelworkers (USW) International President Leo W. Gerard, U.S. Sen. Bob Casey and others will discuss their opposition to trade promotion authority, also known as "Fast Track," during a news conference on Fri., May 1, 2015 at USW Local 1219 in Braddock.
Noting how previous fast track trade deals have devastated communities across America through lost jobs and eroded public services, Casey, Gerard and others are calling for clear, measurable levels of transparency and consultation in future trade deals.
"Trade law enforcement, currency manipulation, adequate trade adjustment assistance and worker rights all have suffered when Congress has merely rubber stamped previous free trade deals with a yes or no vote," said Gerard. "American workers and manufacturers have had to pay a steep price."
