The research report, which targets professionals responsible for commercial energy management around the world, includes responses from nearly 4,000 building owners and operators and offers the industry key insights into upcoming energy trends.
"This year's Energy Efficiency Indicator is the fifth annual survey, the second with a global scope, and the largest to date in geography and number of respondents," said Clay Nesler, vice president, Global Energy and Sustainability, Johnson Controls. "We are excited to share the global findings, which fall on the heels of the Energy Efficiency Indicator Europe results released last month."
Across the United States, individuals – ranging from students to public officials – are taking steps to conserve energy and help the environment. Numerous award winners will be recognized during this year's forum:
- Igniting Creative Energy Awards: Students in grades K-12 throughout the United States and Canada were asked to submit entries that demonstrate an understanding of what an individual, family or group can do in their home, school or community to save energy and water and help the environment. The winners — four students and a teacher — will share their ideas at the 2011 Energy Efficiency Forum.
- Campus Green Scene: Throughout the 2010-2011 school year, college students filmed and submitted their green campus stories online for Johnson Controls' "Campus Green Scene" contest. These creative, inspirational videos drew more than 14,000 views. Online votes were combined with judges' scores, with four schools winning $5,000 each to help fund their projects.
- Energy Leadership Awards: Initiated in 1991, these awards recognize public officials who have provided exemplary leadership in instituting and advancing energy efficiency in the U.S. and abroad. Honors are awarded in up to six categories: Public Service, Mayor's, Congressional, Governor's, International and Douglas Decker Lifetime Achievement.
