WASHINGTON, March 14, 2017 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- U.S. News & World Report, the global authority in rankings and consumer advice, today released the 2018 Best Graduate Schools. The new edition features information and rankings across six disciplines – business, law, engineering, education, medicine and nursing– to help prospective students identify programs that support their professional growth and career needs.
In the full-time MBA rankings, the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania moves up three places to tie with Harvard University at No. 1. The Booth School of Business at the University of Chicago follows at No. 3, while Stanford University, the Sloan School of Business at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University tie at No. 4.
Among part-time MBA programs, the Haas School of Business at the University of California—Berkeley once again claims the No.1 title, followed by Chicago's Booth School of Business at No. 2. The Stern School of Business at New York University and the Anderson School of Management at the University of California—Los Angeles tie at No. 3.
The top law schools shifted slightly this year. Yale Law School and Stanford Law School remain No. 1 and No. 2, respectively, but Harvard Law School dropped to the No. 3 spot. Both Duke University and the Pritzker School of Law at Northwestern cracked the top 10 this year, tying at No. 10. Georgetown University once again offers the No. 1 part-time law program.
Harvard remains the No. 1 medical school for research, followed by Stanford at No. 2 and Johns Hopkins University at No. 3.
"A graduate degree can lead to professional advancement and a potential salary increase," said Anita Narayan, managing editor of Education at U.S. News. "Whether you are interested in pursuing a full-time program or taking classes part-time, the grad school rankings and advice offer guidance on finding programs that help you fulfill your personal goals."
The six graduate disciplines U.S. News ranks annually are evaluated on factors such as employment rates and starting salaries for graduates and standardized test scores of newly enrolled students. Because each graduate program is different, the rankings methodology varies across disciplines. For students interested in studying a specific field, U.S. News also ranks specialties within each graduate school discipline.
