The awards recognize top-rated life insurance providers based on customer satisfaction, company and service features and policy costs.

Methodology
U.S. News & World Report has evaluated life insurance companies since 2019. To determine the 2027 Life Insurance Companies award winners, U.S. News researched 17 life insurance companies, surveyed 407 policyholders who purchased coverage within the past five years, collected 657 National Association of Insurance Commissioners (NAIC) data points, and analyzed 3,081 company and policy features.

The awards methodology measures performance across three main areas:

• Customer Satisfaction: Based on policyholder ratings regarding policy value, claim outcomes, available discounts, and service interactions.
• Company and Service Features: Assessment of coverage types, rider add-ons, available discounts, and geographic availability.
• Cost: Comparison of baseline sample premiums and full pricing ranges across various coverage levels.
