AUSTIN, Texas, Jan. 31, 2019 /PRNewswire/ -- U.S. Money Reserve recently donated an electric wheelchair to Texas Chapter Paralyzed Veterans of America (Texas PVA), a nonprofit organization that supports veterans who have experienced spinal cord injury or dysfunction and assists them with integrating into mainstream society. The electric wheelchair was originally gifted by U.S. Money Reserve to an employee who suffered debilitating health problems. After he recently made a full recovery, the team decided the wheelchair could continue helping someone else in need and learned about Texas PVA.
It is estimated that 44,000 American veterans are living with spinal cord injury or disease. After returning from the line of duty, injured veterans must adapt not only to a civilian life away from the military, but also to a new way of living and coping with a disability. According to Texas PVA, adequate resources are essential to its programs in order to support veterans in their life-changing transition and successfully promote the health and well-being of individuals with disabilities.
"By donating this wheelchair, you have saved our nonprofit organization an estimated $2,500 in wheelchair cost[s] and cost of accessories needed for our independent members," said Amanda Saunders, Executive Director for Texas PVA, in a letter to U.S. Money Reserve. "The success and longevity of our programs rely on fundraising and the kindness of our community."
U.S. Money Reserve is committed to honoring the men and women who have served our country. Along with Texas PVA, U.S. Money Reserve continues to honor and support veterans through their partnership with the U.S. Navy Memorial Foundation—to which USMR donates $5 from each exclusive Pearl Harbor coin purchased.
"We believe in honoring our service men and women and respect Texas PVA for the support they provide to paralyzed military veterans in need," said Jim Warren, Vice President of Marketing & Communication at U.S. Money Reserve. Warren made the in-kind donation to Texas PVA, located in Houston, Texas, in person this past December.
