ARLINGTON, Va., April 5 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Mine Safety and Health Administration spokesperson Amy Louviere today made the following statement:
"At approximately 3:30 p.m. EDT, the Mine Safety and Health Administration was notified of an explosion at the Upper Big Branch South Mine (Performance Coal Co.) in Whitesville, W.Va. MSHA District Manager Bob Hardman is on the scene, along with a family liaison. Rescue efforts are underway."
