US EPA SmartWay Recognizes Mitch England of C.R. England as a Freight Industry "Champion"
SALT LAKE CITY, Oct. 24, 2011 /PRNewswire/ -- Mitch England, Corporate Vice President, C.R. England, a Salt Lake City-based global transportation provider, has been recognized as one of six SmartWay Champions by the Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) SmartWay program. EPA recognized individuals and teams from SmartWay partner companies who have contributed significantly to creating and implementing green initiatives within his or her respective companies.
"I am honored to be a recipient of the SmartWay Champion," said England. "C.R. England strives to be a leader in green transportation, and this recognition demonstrates the continued success of our team to find fuel efficient and carbon-reducing technology and equipment."
England collaborated with the EPA as it developed the criteria for the SmartWay trailer designation, by sharing information gathered from C.R. England's testing and field experiences with aerodynamic technologies and equipment. C.R. England is currently equipping all new Cascadia model tractors with a new aero kit. This kit is an add-on feature that can improve the efficiency of the truck by as much as .1 MPG. In addition to the aero kits, side skirts have been installed on all new trailers. Side skirts yielded an up to five percent improvement in fuel efficiency.
SmartWay Champions were recognized at the 2011 Council of Supply Chain Management Professionals Annual Global Conference. The distinction acknowledges individuals and teams who have made a strong and lasting contribution to the SmartWay mission to reduce the economic, environmental and energy footprint of the movement of goods.
