U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs Awards Millennium Health with Federal Supply Schedule Contract for Pharmacogenetic Testing

SAN DIEGO, Oct. 4, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- In 2013, the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs (VA) Office of Acquisition and Logistics National Acquisition Center awarded Millennium Health, a leading health solutions company, a Federal Supply Schedule (FSS) contract V797D-30178 under schedule 621II Medical Laboratory Testing and Analysis contract. Recently, VA modified Millennium's FSS contract to add its pharmacogenetic test, Millennium PGT^SM. Clinicians may now use the test to help individualize prescription medication decisions for veterans, in the areas of mental health and pain management. The Veterans Health Administration operates the nation's largest integrated health care system with more than 1,700 health-care facilities across the country and serves nine million enrolled veterans each year. 

Millennium PGT^SM is a non-invasive test that helps identify how a patient's genetic profile may impact their response to certain pain and mental health medications that treat depression, bi-polar disorder, anxiety disorder and more. The information from the test may help provide clinicians with a faster and more effective path to optimal medication management, maximizing the benefits of these medications.

The VA/FSS contract award will also allow clinicians in the Department of Defense, the Bureau of Indian Affairs, and the Federal Bureau of Prisons, to have access to Millennium PGT^SM. In fact, the FSS program may be used by all federal agencies of the executive branch, and agencies/organizations authorized by the General Service Administration via statue, laws or policy.
