U.S. Department of Energy Receives Award for Streamlining and Web-Enabling Loan Guarantee Application Process for Clean Energy Projects

FALLS CHURCH, Va., Dec. 6, 2010 /PRNewswire/ -- HandySoft (www.handysoft.com), a leading provider of BPM technology and solutions, is proud to announce that the U.S. Department of Energy's Loan Programs Office (LPO) received the Gold Award for North America at the 2010 Global Awards for Excellence in BPM and Workflow. LPO received the award for its innovative use of BPM technology, provided by HandySoft, to streamline and Web-enable the loan guarantee application process. The Loan Programs Office accelerates the commercial deployment of innovative and advanced clean energy technologies in the United States by providing loan guarantees to eligible projects.

LPO initiated the development of the online portal in order to transform the loan guarantee application process from a series of complex manual steps of data collection and review to a user-friendly, Web-based, automated format with front-end data collection and back-end review automation. The online application portal has been well received, resulting in faster yet thorough reviews and greater visibility to both applicants and DOE management.
