CHICAGO, Jan. 21 /PRNewswire/ -- In keeping with Michelle Obama and the current administration's commitment to improve the lives of military families, the U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) officially selected Sittercity's Corporate Program to help hundreds of thousands of military families across the nation find in-home care. Sittercity is the nation's largest and most trusted online source for finding quality local babysitters, nannies, elder care providers, dog walkers and more, with over a million nationwide caregiver profiles.
The Sittercity Corporate Program, funded by the Department of Defense, provides all Army, Marine, Navy and Air Force families (including active duty, reserve and guard) with a paid membership to Sittercity through a custom built military portal www.sittercity.com/dod . The program provides military families with instant access to caregiver profiles which include background checks, pictures, references, reviews, a four-step screening process and proprietary matching technology to help families hand-select the perfect caregiver for their family. In addition, servicemembers will be able to connect with Military Certified care-providers on Sittercity as well as caregivers who are military subsidized and authorized access to a military installation.
One of the Department of Defense goals resulting from The National Defense Authorization Act of 2008 was to obtain family support services from organizations possessing the capacity and demonstrated ability to provide access to safe and quality care. "We believe that access to Sittercity's nationwide network of quality care providers will be highly beneficial to our servicemembers and their families. Because of the mobile nature of military life, trusted community resources are often difficult to identify and locate. These online tools will help service and family members attain the best match between resource and need," said Tommy T. Thomas, Deputy Under Secretary of Defense, Military Community and Family Policy.
"We are very pleased to play such a pivotal role in supporting military families nationwide," said Melissa Anderson, who heads up Sittercity's Corporate Division. "Through a custom-built dedicated web portal, the Sittercity Corporate Program provides DoD families with unprecedented access to caregivers nationwide to help meet their unique care needs, including normal weekly and hourly care, work in excess of a normal duty day, off-base care in remote areas and deployments."
Eligible servicemembers can activate their paid membership at www.sittercity.com/dod.
