U.S. Department of Defense Renews Active Duty Dental Program with United Concordia
New 5-year contract continues benefits administration for active duty service members
HARRISBURG, Pa., Nov. 27, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- United Concordia Companies, Inc. today announced that it has been awarded a five-year, $728 million contract by the Department of Defense (DoD) to continue administration of the Active Duty Dental Program (ADDP). The new contract will most likely take effect Aug. 1, 2014, and provides dental benefits for 1.4 million eligible active duty service members of the Uniformed Services.
"We are pleased that DoD's Defense Health Agency chose to renew the ADDP contract with United Concordia. It will allow us to continue to provide the military with exceptional customer service and quality care through our broad network of dentists and implement innovative and industry-leading benchmark processes for which we're known," said F.G. "Chip" Merkel, president and chief operating officer.
United Concordia has administered dental benefits for TRICARE programs since 1996. Surveys and feedback have consistently demonstrated that both beneficiaries and the Government are satisfied with United Concordia's network, services and program administration.
The ADDP business is directly supported by nearly 60 United Concordia employees in Harrisburg and across the country.
"As administrator of the ADDP, we are entrusted to care for active duty service members of the Uniformed Services. It is our honor and duty to take every possible step to improve their dental health," said Merkel. "We are very proud to be administrators of this important contract."
The ADDP, like civilian group dental plans, covers diagnostic, preventive and restorative services. It also includes comprehensive dental specialty care coverage. Active duty service members may find more information at www.addp-ucci.com, or www.tricare.osd.mil.
