WASHINGTON, Oct. 13, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Office for Trade Promotion (OTP) at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center announced the appointment of Executive Director Andrew Gelfuso to the Commerce Department's Industry Trade Advisory Committee (ITAC) on Services and Financial Industries.

The appointment was granted by the Secretary of Commerce and the United States Trade Representative. Gelfuso will serve as an advisor on the Industry Trade Advisory Committee on Services and Finance Industries through February 17, 2014. The Industry Trade Advisory Committees (ITACs) act as an integral link between the public and private sector and are jointly administered by the Department of Commerce and the United States Trade Representative. Industry advisors serving on ITACs offer advice on multilateral, regional and bilateral trade negotiations, assisting in the development of U.S. trade policy.

Andrew Gelfuso is the Executive Director of the Office for Trade Promotion, at the Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center and is employed by Trade Center Management Associates. His collaboration with an array of think tanks, government agencies and private sector businesses allows him to exchange ideas with expert trade professionals and high-powered global leaders at major global summits and enables him to take part in key bilateral trade negotiations.
Gelfuso began his career at the World Trade Center in Rhode Island and later held several positions in the International Trade Administration under the Department of Commerce. Gelfuso later served as the Asia/Pacific regional manager at the U.S. Advocacy Center where he collaborated with the office of the U.S. Secretary of Commerce, the USTR, the State Department, the White House, and U.S. embassy officials. During his tenure, the Advocacy Center completed $35 billion in successful transactions in the Asia/Pacific region.
Gelfuso also serves as a member of the District's Export Council, a Board member of the Embassy Series, and a member of the Standards & Quality Committee under the World Trade Center Association.
