WABAN, Mass., April 9, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Temkin Group released its Temkin Well-Being Index (TWI), which measures the well-being of U.S. adult consumers. The TWI is based on surveys of 10,000 U.S. consumers that were completed in January of 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015.

The TWI of 63.8% in 2015 represents a slight dip from 64.0% in 2014, but it still remains higher than it has been in previous years. The drop was caused by a decline in the financial security element of the TWI.
The TWI is an index that averages the percentage of consumers who agree with the following statements:
- I am typically happy
- I am healthy
- I am financially secure
"The well-being of U.S. consumers remains relatively high compared to previous years, but consumers are feeling a little less financially secure than they were last year," states Bruce Temkin, Managing Partner of Temkin Group.
All three elements of TWI—happiness, healthiness, and financial security—showed different paths between 2014 and 2015. The financial security of TWI dropped from 46.2% to 45.4%, while the happiness element stayed steady at 77.0%, and the healthiness element increased slightly from 68.8% to 69.0%, and the financial security.
Here are the TWI since the start of the index:
- 2012: 60.0%
- 2013: 61.5%
- 2014: 64.0%
- 2015: 63.8%
