TUESDAY, JUNE 4: HEALTH RESOURCE MANAGEMENT
Profile America — Tuesday, June 4th. The Census Bureau has been producing estimates of health insurance coverage at the county level since 2005. These are broken out by sex, age, income, race and Hispanic origin. Known as the Small Area Health Insurance Estimates, these statistics tell us how health insurance coverage varies by county across the country. The information allows providers in the health care field to target outreach activities to increase access to health care services nationwide. The program is partially funded by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, in support of its national breast and cervical cancer early detection program. The data collected are used to (more effectively) target where early detection services are most needed and how best to allocate limited resources. Profile America is in its 17th year as a public service of the U.S. Census Bureau.
Profile America is produced by the Center for New Media and Promotions of the U.S. Census Bureau. These daily features are available as produced segments, ready to air, on a monthly CD or on the Internet at http://www.census.gov (look for "Multimedia Gallery" by the "Newsroom" button).
