U.S. Cellular Continues a Summer of Better Moments With Baseball Skills Clinic and Wisconsin State Fair Celebrity Appearance
Former Milwaukee Brewers coach Davey Nelson and former Green Bay Packer player Mark Tauscher team up with U.S. Cellular to reward customers
MILWAUKEE, July 23, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- U.S. Cellular continues a summer of Better Moments in Wisconsin by sponsoring a baseball skills clinic for Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee, hosted by sportscaster and former Milwaukee Brewers coach, Davey Nelson. From 8-10 a.m. on July 24, 30 children will visit Helfaer Field to practice fielding, hitting and base running, gleaning support and advice from Nelson who has developed several major league players.
As part of a commitment to the Milwaukee area and the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee, U.S. Cellular is also donating $10,000 to purchase equipment for the non-profit organization. U.S. Cellular customers voted on devices at the U.S. Cellular Power Playground at Miller Park and select retail stores to decide what the donation should be used towards: equipment, uniforms or traveling baseball teams.
"We're thrilled for our kids to have a chance to participate in this clinic and have a fun time while learning new skills," said Vincent Lyles, President & CEO of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Milwaukee. "The opportunity to get baseball tips from the pros and the donation from U.S. Cellular go a long way in helping our programs and creating memories for everyone involved."
"At U.S. Cellular, we want to provide Better Moments for friends and families in our communities by creating fun and unique experiences that they can't get anywhere else," said Laurie Poellinger, director of sales for U.S. Cellular in Wisconsin. "We are excited to partner with Davey Nelson and the Boys and Girls Clubs on this event and we look forward to more memorable activities across Wisconsin this summer."
On August 2, Wisconsin Badgers and Green Bay Packers legend and current Wisconsin radio host, Mark Tauscher, will join U.S. Cellular's Band of Better to reward patrons with surprise perks at the Wisconsin State Fair, presented by U.S. Cellular.
The Band of Better will also make appearances at the following events:
- Milwaukee Brewers Games: August 16 and 18
- Moonlit Movie: August 15 (downtown Milwaukee)
