U.S. Bans 'Islam' and 'Jihad' -- PC or Strategic Censorship?
PJTV investigates if the U.S. has been strategically censoring terminology
WASHINGTON, April 12 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- – PJTV.com today released the first of a two-part investigative video regarding the increasing formality of censoring Islamic related words used in the federal government. President Obama has recently added the weight of the executive office in the ban of "Islam" and "Jihad" from national security documents - as of last week. The PJTV video, however, explores that there probably has been a history of censorship that may have predated the Obama administration.
The bipartisan 9/11 Commission Report included the word "Jihad" 126 times and the word "Islam" 322 times when describing the details of September 11, 2001. However, subsequent national security reports, such as the FBI Counterterrorism Analytical Lexicon (in essence a dictionary for the FBI) and the 2009 National Intelligence Strategy Report, have neglected to use such accurate descriptors, failing to include the words even once. Further, as Time Magazine pointed out last fall, the official Fort Hood report was also devoid of Islam related terminology.
The second PJTV video will explore if outside organizations have been pressuring the U.S. to censor its language.
