WASHINGTON, April 7, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- U.S. Air Force Chief of Staff General Mark Welsh will speak on the future of the Air Force at a National Press Club Speakers breakfast on April 23. General Welsh took the helm for the Air Force in August 2012. Before his appointment, he was commander of U.S. Air Forces in Europe and oversaw the operations of the Air Force base in Ramstein, Germany.
Gen. Welsh, alongside Air Force Secretary Deborah Lee James, created a special victims counsel program for victims of sexual abuse. Since its implementation earlier this year, there has been a 33 percent increase in assault reports and prosecution.
Gen. Welsh recently testified at a Senate Appropriations Subcommittee on Defense hearing on the FY2015 Air Force budget, including plans to cut the A-10 Thunderbolt II and U-2 fleets.
Breakfast will be served at 9 a.m., with remarks beginning at 9:30 a.m., followed by a question-and-answer session ending at 10:30 a.m. Tickets may be purchase by going to the following link.
